Athletics Alumni Participation Challenge

The Challenge is back! When you make a gift towards your former Dartmouth sport, you help give a Dartmouth athlete the same exciting opportunity that you had as a student.

But your gift can also do so much more for our students. Support your sport—by June 30, 2017—and you’ll help give your Dartmouth’s Friends program an opportunity to earn up to $15,000 in additional funds.

This year, funds will be awarded to the Friends groups with:

  • The highest overall alumni giving participation ($5,000 award)
  • The greatest increase in alumni giving participation ($5,000 award)
  • The highest young alumni giving participation (classes 2007-2016, $5,000 award)

Gifts must be made by June 30 to count in the Challenge.

If you’ve given since July 1, 2016, you have already done your part. Thank you!

Challenge Rules

The Challenge measures only participation of former student-athletes to the sport he/she played. Multi-sport athletes must support each of their sports to be counted in each.

Gifts to endowed funds, capital projects, the Dartmouth College Fund, the AD’s Fund for Excellence, and Athletic Sponsors are not counted in this Challenge. If you have already made your Dartmouth gift to one of those areas, we ask that you please consider a participatory gift to your Friends program as well.

For gender-mirrored sports, the rankings will reflect combined participation (men’s and women’s).

Dartmouth couples of a single sport only need to give once to both count.

Dartmouth is always improving its historical records, which may cause a shift in the number of participants measured during the course of this challenge. A secondary goal of the Challenge is to reformat our historical participation records and update email contact information. If you know of a teammate who is not receiving emails about this Challenge, please email
